Privacy Shield

Privacy Shield refers to an informal agreement between the United States (US) and the European Union (EU), aiming to ensure compliance with European data protection standards for data transfers, such as the GDPR. This became invalid in 2020, and again in March of 2022, when the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and US President Joe Biden announced a new agreement for transatlantic data privacy and a new transfer framework.
